Robotics Team

Christ the Redeemer Ministries has been serving our community by
coaching a First Lego League Challenge team, Shark Frenzy!, for the
past 5 years. This year’s team is made up of 5 elementary and middle
schoolers from around Baltimore City. Musa, Tahrir, Aarya, Nathan, and
Vincent competed against 16 teams at the Anne Arundel Community
College qualifier in December. They took home 4th place overall as
well as a trophy for their Innovation Project! Shark Frenzy is now
able to move on to the state qualifier at University of Maryland
Baltimore County on February 21st. Come out and support our team!

Over the years, the team has looked different. We started as a team of
2, made up of 2 families from Pigtown. In recent years, we have had
more interest from families all around Baltimore. We have been able to
serve a total of 6 families over the last 5 years, but keep our roots
in Pigtown. Christ the Redeemer continues to host the only First Lego
League team in Baltimore City that is not school-based, but open to
the community. We meet every Saturday at the church to practice
programming, research, and teamwork. Christ the Redeemer has been able
to serve these families in a wide range of ways over the years,
providing spiritual guidance, Christmas presents, canoe trips, and
recovery options to families in need. We continue to see blessings
flow as we serve Baltimore families using our combined gifts of
teaching and engineering under the leadership of Fr. Terry.

Bikes for Christmas

Fr. Terry worked with John and Julia Flagg, a couple who restore used
bikes, to provide two local families with bikes for Christmas. One
family attends Christ the Redeemer church services and was gifted 3
bikes. Another family is a part of the First Lego League team that
meets on Saturdays. They were also gifted 3 bikes. John and Julia
Flagg restored some bikes and donated others to help the church
provide for the families this Christmas.
